  what are some stupid analogies that you here dubs use all the time to explain their faulty, destructing teachings?

  or maybe ones you've used in the past that when you think about them now, make you cringe?.

  What were your reasons for not liking the ministry school?

  i dropped out years ago because i couldn't stand getting together with sisters i didn't like to do a talk.

  i hated it with a passion!!

  i do realize that you did learn but what i resented was that the sisters were inflicted on each other in a way that i don't think the brothers were.

  I have to say - most of the sisters 'talks' were very cringeworthy. In our hall sisters were paired at random which could be stressful due to personality clashes or lack of time to practice. I remember having to step in at the last minute to be a 'householder/rebellious teen'. This was a part I relished...

  I also got frustrated at the blatant sexism. I would have much rather given a talk from the platform on my own and sisters' talks were so limited. In fact, whenever we had 'Hall Cleaning' I would make a beeline for the podium and pretend to give a talk.

  It was very irritating watching Brother Fretful stumble through the mystical underpinnings of Revelation followed by Brother Loveshimself use the platform as a recruiting ground for his own personal fan club. Sales training at its very best masquerading as spirtual enlightenment - who'd a thunk it?

  LT - I have to do some work for a philosophy module I'm taking. Do you have any recommended texts for beginners? I need to get my head round a lot of stuff and one is struggling at the mo.

  Bookstudy in my home

  we host a discussion group in our home called the dayton salon.

  our dogma is: food, wine, fellowship, and discussion.

  we meet once a month and folks arrive with food to share, they fellowship in and out of the kitchen before settling down to discuss a topic (picked a month ago) in the den (we call the salon).

I think she got them because she won the sympathy vote - the unbelieving mate and daughter is a winning combo. Unfortunately most weeks it was a load of the hostess' shortbread which had about 1lb of sugar in each slice. However there was a time when she brought back strawberry tarts two weeks in a row - sorry Jehoober you'll have to try better than that....
